Questions and Answers

Are you a vegan? Vegetarian? What's your deal?
Definitely not a vegetarian. I try to avoid labeling my diet, although I do follow a few rules in my cooking and eating style:

1. Source local, sustainably-grown and raised, humanely killed product whenever possible.
2. Limit dairy, unless it's raw.
3. Keep processed crap to a minimum.
4. Use and eat fat with joyful abandon.
5. When consuming grains, go for whole.
6. Use real silverware, plates and napkins.
7. Try to avoid screens during mealtime.

Did I see you on Beat Bobby Flay?
Yep! I was a contestant on Season 1.

And Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives?

I want to get into food writing/media. Will you give me some advice?
I would love to connect to everyone personally, but unfortunately I do not have the time to devote to thoughtful conversations on an individual basis. It doesn't mean that I don't like you, though!!!

What's the deal with your book?
My book, The Call of the Farm, is a memoir of food, farming, falling in love, and fu... wait, is my mom going to read this page? The story chronicles my time as a starry-eyed 25-year-old in a dreamy but otherwise fated-for-destruction relationship. Take that for what it's worth.

Are you going to write another book/cookbook?
I would love nothing more.

Where can I find recipes for the food you post on Instagram?
Unfortunately, I don't have a cohesive collection of recipes at this time. (See previous question re: cookbooks). However, I do offer tips, techniques, and inspiration at the Food! page on this site.

What's your favorite dog breed?

That's not actually a frequently-asked question, is it?
You're right. But I couldn't find anywhere else to drop that link.

Will you review/post about my product?
I work with brand partners to share products and services that match my values and style. Drop me a line about yours, and we'll talk.
